How Do I Choose Key Words And Phrases For My Web Site Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

How do I choose a list of key words and phrases for my site?

This is a question many clients ask and is a reasonable question. Often a web site owner will not think outside the box for search words that may find new customers or clients. Below I will list several ways to process a full list of viable key words for your business.

First write down the list of key words and phrases you would use to find your business. Have several other people to do the same. Ask as many different types of people as possible to do this for you. Choose the people you ask by age, sex, demographics, and any other variable that may suit your business.

Enter searches into a search engine like Google, Bing, or Yahoo and see if competing businesses come up.

Use your search words and phrases to do a search and research the companies that come up by reading through the content on their pages, paying close attention to key words and phrases that would relate to your business. You will be surprised at the words you may have never considered.

Use a key word generator tool to help in this process Google has a great tool for AdWords campaign that works very well. You can find the tool HERE.

Content – Unique Content Is Most Important

Fresh relevant unique content is key to any website or blog optimization. If you want to stand out in the crowd you must be different. Trying to create content that is interesting and informative that hasn’t already been beat to death on other sites can be very challenging. Changing your thought process while writing an article can help you be a bit more creative.

One method is to ask questions and and then give a detailed answer. Always try to think of the 5 Ws; Who, What, Where, When, and Why. This can help set up a format for asking yourself the questions.

Always summarize at the end of your article. Give a definitive overview. This will help put your entire article in perspective for your audience and enable them to assess what they have read. Having an overview also reiterates the conversation within the article. Having read something more than once also helps the element of retention.

So to summarize, always use fresh, unique, relevant content. Have a plan of attack when beginning to write your article, and always summarize what you have written.

I Need a Blog Why?

Thanks for visiting. Please comment below.

Search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing love blogs. As the search result showplace evolves and real time search takes center stage, it has become more important than ever to have a repetitive online presence.

Search engines are constantly changing their algorithms to bring YOU – the searcher, the most relevant up-to-date information possible. As with social networking being a real-time format for information, so has blogging. A blog is nothing more than a web log (hence the name blog), of information pertaining to a specific subject.

Using a blog for SEO purposes can be very beneficial for both your readers and your search engine positioning. By offering well written, informative, and unique content to your readers, they benefit by having the information they are looking for, and your search position benefits by having more traffic on your site. It’s a win win situation.

Write Compelling Content For Opt-In List Building

Getting potential clients / customers to your site is only half the battle. Once your have them there you have to keep them there.

Give them what they want. Cater to there needs. Ask them what else they would like. Be sincere in wanting to be of assistance. Write compelling persuasive content that will keep them focused on their initial purpose for visiting your site.

To build your opt-in list you must do the same. Offer useful information and content that is unique. The ultimate goal is not to sell your product or service, it is to build a customer /client relationship and trust.

Remember, if you are an e-mail marketer you must adhere to the Anti-Spam Laws.

Your readers are the ones interested in the content you have to offer. If they have a hard time understanding the concept of your content then they will find another source that suits them better and you will loose them forever.

Our blog is updated at least 3 times a week and sometimes more often. We strive to give out valuable, informative, and the most accurate information possible.

The SEO Basics

Site Structure

Separate your site structure and content with cascading style sheets (css). Part of site structure is having good navigation. It is important to have a site that is easily navigated.

Meta Tags

Many search engines do not use meta keyword tags in their algorithms but they DO use meta description tags.

Title Tags

Tittle tags should be key word and key phrase rich for the individual page you are optimizing. Do not make your title tags extremely long. Only include the words and phrases that are relevant to that particular page.

Good Content Titles

Headings for your content should also be key word and key phrase rich. Your content headings should be a good description of what the content is about.

Site Content

Content should be well written, unique, and informative. Key word and key phrases should be used very naturally throughout your content.

Optimized Images

Images should be saved in a compressed format such as jpg. gif, or png. Images that are not optimized for the web will be large in file size and cause your pages to load slowly.

xml sitemap

An xml sitemap is different than an on site sitemap. xml sitemaps are submitted to the search engines either automatically or manually. You can install a plugin or code within your website that will automatically submit your xml site map to the search engines when new content is created in your site.

robots.txt file

A robot text file will tell the search engines whether or not they are allowed to index pages within your site. If you have files or folders within your site that you do not want indexed or included in the search engines you can include this in the robots.txt file. Be careful with this file. An incorrectly written file can tell the search engines not to index your site at all and your site will not be indexed or found in any search.

How To Build Linkable Content

[ad#Google Adsense text horizonal]
Linkable Content is key to building inbound links that you never have to ask for. Interesting unique content that other sites or people with sites will find useful and link to.

The challenge becomes creating content that people will link to and be able to find. We will address both issues in this article.

Creating Unique Content

Coming up with content that is unique and linkable doesn’t have to be a difficult task. One of the easiest ways to come up with ideas for good content is to research forums and sites that you are related to your content where people ask questions. Find questions that are interesting and haven’t been answered or adequately answered and write an article. Now you have a unique article that can be linked to when it is found.

Getting Your Article Found

Sharing your article will get it found by people looking for the answer. There are hundreds if not thousands of sites to share written content. Sites like e-zines, article submission sites, social media sites like digg, reddit, livejournal, facebook, twitter are all great places to share content.

Always remember to give back. Link to content on other sites that you find relevant and feel would be useful to your readers.
