How Do I Choose Key Words And Phrases For My Web Site Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

How do I choose a list of  key words and phrases for my site?

This is a question many clients ask and is a reasonable question. Often a web site owner will not think outside the box for search words that may find new customers or clients. Below I will list several ways to process a full list of viable key words for your business.

First write down the list of key words and phrases you would use to find your business. Have several other people to do the same. Ask as many different types of people as possible to do this for you. Choose the people you ask by age, sex, demographics, and any other variable that may suit your business.

Enter searches into a search engine like Google, Bing, or Yahoo and see if competing businesses come up.

Use your search words and phrases to do a search and research the companies that come up by reading through the content on their pages, paying close attention to key words and phrases that would relate to your business. You will be surprised at the words you may have never considered.

Use a key word generator tool to help in this process Google has a great tool for AdWords campaign that works very well. You can find the tool HERE.

Optimizing Your Web Images For SEO

    [ad#Google Adsense]

Thanks for visiting. Please comment below.

Pages that load slow will have a negative effect on your SEO and page rank. Search engines want pages that load fast and so do your potential clients or customers. If pages load slow you may find people leaving your site.

Optimizing your images can be done a couple ways. You can optimize in a program like Photoshp or Gimp (an open source graphic program similar to Photoshop but free) or you can optimize them online in an online optimization program.

However you choose to optimize your images is up to you. The proper resolution for web images is 72 dpi (dot per inch) or ppi (pixels per inch). The most common formats for web images are .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, and .png Each format has a specific use. .jpg and .jpeg are most commonly used for pictures such as people and places. A.gif is usually used where there are not a lot of variations of color and no gradient. A .gif image only uses 256 colors where a .jpg or .jpeg can use millions of colors to create the image in a screen resolution (72 dpi).

    Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Basics

Before I begin, let me make something perfectly clear. Write your content for your readers, clients, and customers first and the search engines second.

Your readers are the ones interested in the content you have to offer. If they have a hard time understanding the concept of your content then they will find another source that suits them better and you will loose them forever.

Read all of our content within this blog. It only contains information pertaining to search engine optimization and website marketing. You will gain a vast amount of valuable information to use in optimizing and marketing your website or blog by subscribing and reading this content. Our blog is updated at least 3 times a week and sometimes more often. We strive to give out valuable, informative, and the most accurate information possible.

    The SEO Basics

    Site Structure

Separate your  site structure and content with cascading style sheets (css). Part of site structure is having good navigation. It is important to have a site that is easily navigated.

    Meta Tags

Many search engines do not use meta keyword tags in their algorithms but they DO use meta description tags.

    Title Tags

Tittle tags should be key word and key phrase rich for the individual page you are optimizing. Do not make your title tags extremely long. Only include the words and phrases that are relevant to that particular page.

    Good Content Titles

Headings for your content should also be key word and key phrase rich. Your content headings should be a good description of what the content is about.

    Site Content

Content should be well written, unique, and informative. Key word and key phrases should be used very naturally throughout your content.

    Optimized Images

Images should be saved in a compressed format such as jpg. gif, or png. Images that are not optimized for the web will be large in file size and cause your pages to load slowly.

    xml sitemap

An xml sitemap is different than an on site sitemap. xml sitemaps are submitted to the search engines either automatically or manually. You can install a plugin or code within your website that will automatically submit your xml site map to the search engines when new content is created in your site.

    robots.txt file

A robot text file will tell the search engines whether or not they are allowed to index pages within your site. If you have files or folders within your site that you do not want indexed or included in the search engines you can include this in the robots.txt file. Be careful with this file. An incorrectly written file can tell the search engines not to index your site at all and your site will not be indexed or found in any search.

    Marketing your site through inclusion

    [ad#VOIPo]
In this article we will focus on marketing your website on the internet through search engines and directories.

Marketing a successful business or information site needs a targeted strategy. Many people are under the misconception that if they build a website they will immediately gain customers for their existing business. Building an online presence should be used as part of an overall marketing plan in conjunction with other means of advertising.

In large, the internet is used for 2 purposes, Information and sales. If an individual comes to your site for information they are researching, or to purchase a product you are selling, they expect to find it quickly and easily. This means, you as a designer or site owner must have a clear and concise navigation system. The navigation must be positioned in a familiar place on the page and not hidden so the visitor has to hunt for it. The information must also be relevant to the key words the visitor has typed into the search engine. This is where seo or search engine optimization comes in. In order for the search engine to index your site correctly you must have a relivant title, a key word meta tag in the head of the html document, and the proper density of key words within the body copy of your page that flows naturally.

Getting your site indexed can be a timely process. In the beginning it may take up to 8 weeks for a search engine to initially crawl your site. Submission to the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN and directories such as dmoz, an open directory, should take place only after you have properly optimized your site. Because this initial crawl can take a long period of time, you want the information contained in the page to be relevant and listed correctly the first time. Directories such as dmoz are not crawled. They are actually looked at and read through by human beings that determine if the information contained in the pages is relevant.

Adding information to your site on a regular basis is also critical to your visitors and the search engines. Fresh reliable information will keep visitors and search engine crawlers (also called robots) coming back. The lager the amount of relevant information contained in the pages, the more likely it will be your site moves up in the search engine listings.

Key elements to search engine optimization (seo)

    [ad#Google Adsense text horizonal]

    Web site Ranking With SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO is a critical component in the proper construction of a search engine friendly web site. Key words must co-inside with page content to assure they are relevant to the page. After you or your designer submit your site to the world wide web, search engine robots, also called web crawlers or spiders, search your site for content and check the density of your keywords within the body of the page. This allows a search engine to properly index the page for inclusion in the correct category.

Well written content with correct grammar and without spelling errors is essential to the content of your pages. Many times readers will consider a site with improper grammar and lots of spelling errors to be unprofessional and leave the site in search of a more qualified site. Always spell check your content and if possible, have it proof read before submitting it to the world wide web.

Relevant links are also a critical component of SEO. Linking to and receiving reciprocal links or link backs from medium to high ranking sites is also key to your success in the search engines. Search engines want to have the most relevant links at the top of their pages. This is determined by keywords, content, and link backs. You must manually e-mail and ask webmasters and site owners for reciprocal links. If they feel your site is relevant and has content their viewers would be interested in, they will probably agree to exchanging links with your site.

Each search engine uses a different algorithm or process to index and categorize the pages it includes. These algorithms are a confidential process developed by programmers that work for the search engine company such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Many smaller search engines pull their results from these larger search engines and directories. Once you are included in the major search engines your site will most definitely be included in many of the smaller ones automatically.

A good ranking does not happen over night. Much research must go into picking out the correct targeted keywords and key phrases. This is a process the client and designer must work on together to ensure the client’s targeted market is reached. Tweaking (making small changes) key words and content over a period of time is how optimization of your site is achieved. This does not have to be a grueling process if approached in a sensible manner.
